Kong has some uninvited guests and he’s not a happy ape!
Kong: Skull Island takes place in 1971 and focuses on a team of explorers who find more than they bargained for on an uncharted island in the Pacific. From the trailer, we learn the explorers are sent to the island under false pretence, but quickly discover the island’s secrets. Kong boasts a strong cast line-up which includes the likes of Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, and Samuel L. Jackson, who are sure to draw in big numbers at the box office.
This new film takes place in what is being called the ‘Godzilla-Kong Universe’, which means eventually we will see the ‘Eighth Wonder of the World’ go toe-to-toe with Godzilla, who we met in the 2014 reboot directed by Gareth Edwards. There are next to no details about Godzilla vs Kong, other than it’s set to release in 2020 but we can probably expect the film to be nicely set up during Godzilla 2, which will be hitting cinema screens in 2019.
With the crazy amount of teasers that were posted by Warner Brothers in the run up to the trailer, we can probably expect a lot of marketing for Kong from now until the film hits the big screen at the beginning of next year.
What are your thoughts on the trailer? Are you looking forward to Kong’s return to the big screen? Let us know.
