Since ‘Avatar’ first released back in 2009, James Cameron has made it perfectly clear he has big plans for the characters we met in the first film and the world we were introduced to. Today, many many release date push backs later, 20th Century Fox announced that production had begun on the four ‘Avatar’ sequels and released an image of the crew that will be working on it, with director James Cameron at front and centre.
“Great to be working with the best team in the business! Avatar takes flight as we begin concurrent production on four sequels. The journey continues December 18, 2020, December 17, 2021, December 20, 2024 and December 19, 2025!”
According to the post, we can expect the first sequel to arrive December 18th 2020, followed by the a release the following year, then again in 2024 and 2025. An announcement has been a long time coming, with the first film releasing a whole 8 years ago and lots of rumours and release dates floating around ever since.
Are you looking forward to finally getting an ‘Avatar’ sequel? or do you think people may have lost interest in the idea after waiting so long?
