Hollywood Reporter have exclusively revealed that ‘Game of Thrones’ star Maisie Williams and Anya Taylor-Joy, who recently starred in M. Night Shyamalan’s brilliant ‘Split’, have both been cast in the upcoming ‘X-Men’ spin-off ‘New Mutants’
Williams is reportedly playing Wolfsbane, “a girl struggling to reconcile her religious beliefs with her power to turn into a wolf.” Taylor-Joy has been cast as Colussus’ younger sister, Magik, who can teleport. There’s no news on other members other than the fact the studio are “making serious efforts to find ethnically appropriate actors”.
Both these young actresses are a fine choice for this film, they are both extremely talented and it’ll be fantastic to see them both work together on something. Since her superb performance in ‘ The Witch’ in 2015, I had hoped we’d start seeing more of her. Williams is a fan favourite on ‘Game of Thrones’ and her stint on ‘Doctor Who’ last year was just brilliant, so a big screen appearance in an ‘X-Men’ spin-off is very much welcomed.
‘New Mutants’ will be directed by Josh Boone and it’s current scheduled release date is April 13th 2018, which is more than likely subject to change.
