Since his introduction in ‘Captain America: Civil War’, fans of the MCU have been on tenterhooks waiting for a glimpse of T’Challa’s solo film. Then yesterday, out of the blue, the first poster hit the web along with an announcement that a teaser trailer would follow a few hours later.
Whilst the poster received it’s fair share of criticism over on Twitter, the teaser trailer seems to have received an overall positive reception. And rightly so..
Joining Chadwick Boseman in Wakanda are Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, Winston Duke, and Sterling K. Brown. Ryan Coogler (Creed, Fruitvale Station) is in the director’s chair, which I couldn’t be more excited about!
Andy Serkis is reprising his role as Ulysses Klaw, who we met in ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ when he sold vibranium to Ultron, who then proceeded to slice off his arm in a fit of rage. Martin Freeman also returns as CIA Operative, Everett Ross, who had a run in with the Avengers and Black Panther during ‘Civil War’ when the CIA captured Bucky Barnes.
This first teaser does a superb job of being a tease of what to expect from this film and I can’t wait to see more!
“Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther” follows T’Challa who, after the death of his father, the King of Wakanda, returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation to succeed to the throne and take his rightful place as king.
“But when a powerful old enemy reappears, T’Challa’s mettle as king—and Black Panther—is tested when he is drawn into a formidable conflict that puts the fate of Wakanda and the entire world at risk. Faced with treachery and danger, the young king must rally his allies and release the full power of Black Panther to defeat his foes and secure the safety of his people and their way of life.”
‘Black Panther’ is currently scheduled to hit UK cinemas on 16th February 2018
