New ‘Captain Marvel’ Synopsis Revealed And Returning MCU Characters Revealed!

The cameras began rolling on the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first female solo film last week. ‘Captain Marvel’, which was recently voted JUMPCUT’s most anticipated Marvel film post ‘Infinity War’, and this week a the first synopsis was released!

“The story follows Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races.  Set in the 1990s, ‘Captain Marvel’ is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”

Not only did we get our first synopsis, but we were also treated to news that some familiar faces will be returning to our screens in this film. Fan favourite Agent Coulson, played by Clark Gregg, will be returning to the big screen for the first time since we witnessed his fake death in the first ‘Avengers film back in 2012 – and fans already can’t wait to see his return! Because the film is set in the 90’s, S.H.I.E.L.D will still be up and running (even though we now know HYDRA has infiltrated it and is secretly pulling the strings). We’ll also be seeing Lee Pace’s ‘Ronan the Accuser’ and Djimon Hounsou’s ‘Korath the Pursuer’ again, after last seeing the pair of them in the first ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’.

Also previously confirmed to be joining Brie Larson in this film are Samuel L. Jackon, Jude Law, Gemma Chan, Lashan Lynch, and Ben Mendelsohn.

Larson’s ‘Captain Marvel’ has been confirmed to appear in ‘Avengers 4’, but rumours are circling the internet that we may even get to meet her in ‘Infinity War’ – as always, take it with a pinch of salt – but personally I think a Captain Marvel appearance is highly likely in a post-credit scene to make the wait for ‘Avengers 4’ and her solo film even more unbearable!

‘Captain Marvel’ lands in cinemas March 8th, 2019
