I remember seeing Space Jam with my dad when I was 5 years old. I went to the UCI cinema (originally a UK-based cinema chain which was bought out in 2004) in my hometown. As a kid, I loved it: I love Looney Tunes so I was desperate to see it and, even as an adult, I still enjoy the weird but charming film.
And, after years of rumours, it looks like a new film is arriving! Spring Hill Entertainment posted a picture on their Twitter page on the 19th September, displaying a set of changing room spaces. However, if you focus in on the picture, you’ll notice familiar references to the original film: The Tune Squad vest and shorts, water bottles with the Warner Bros. and Warner Animation logos and drawings of Marvin the Martin and Lola Bunny.
Immediately, fans have been theorizing that the number below each name is actually a reveal of the film’s release date: 1/23/2021 (23rd January 2021). Whether this is just a theory or is actually the release date remains to be seen, but filming will start in 2019.
While a plot line hasn’t been revealed, LA Lakes player LeBron James has confirmed that he will play the lead, alongside Looney Tunes star Bugs Bunny, and that this film is NOT a sequel, but a stand-alone film.
The new film will star Lebron James and will be directed by Terence Nance and produced by Ryan Coogler (Black Panther, Creed, Fruitvale Station).
