The 89th Academy Award Winners List In Full

Jimmy Kimmel hosted the 89th Academy Awards last night where ‘Moonlight’ won 3 awards, including the biggest prize of the night for ‘Best Picture’ and ‘Supporting Actor’. Director Damien Chazelle not only won an incredible six Oscar wins for ‘La La Land’, but also became the youngest filmmaker to win an Oscar at 32 years old! . ‘Zootopia’ scooped up the award for ‘Best Animated Feature’ and ‘Jungle Book’ walked away with ‘Best Visual Effects’.

The Odysseys 2016: Save The Date

Awards season is coming to an end, with just two major events left to go; one is a little, unknown ceremony, and the other, is The Odysseys. If you watched the JumpCut UK Film Awards show last year, you’ll know that The Odysseys (as the show is now known) will be the most fun film awards show out there. The Odysseys is all about true film fans from all over the world coming together to celebrate the films that really mattered to the most important people in the industry – the fans!

Well, you’re all surely dying with excitement to see the show and find out who wins our prestigious awards, and we can now confirm that the show will be ready for you all to view from 7pm on Sunday 19th February. Stephen Fry hosted the 70th British Academy Film Awards in London’s Royal Albet Hall and it’ll come as no surprise to many, ‘La La Land’ waltzed away with 5 BAFTA wins, including ‘Best Picture’, ‘Best Direction’, and ‘Best Original Music’.

The latest actor to step into the Spider-Man suit, Tom Holland, won the ‘Rising Star’ award which was voted for by the public. Casey Affleck walked away with ‘Best Leading Actor’ and Viola Davis collected her much deserved award for ‘Best Supporting Actress’. Former ‘Skins’ star, Dev Patel, won ‘Best Supporting Actor’ for his brilliant performance in ‘Lion’and ‘I, Daniel Blake’ took home the prize for ‘Outstanding British Film’.

The Oscar Nominations Are In! Here Are All The Nominees For This Year’s Academy Awards

The nominations for the 89th Academy Awards have just been announced and unsurpisingly, ‘La La Land’ lands the most nominations with a total of 14. Meryl Streep’s nomination for ‘Lead Actress’ means she is now the most nominated performer in the history of the Oscars! 

Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs was joined by Guillermo del Toro, Brie Larson, Dustin Lance Black, Glenn Close, Jennifer Hudson, and  a number of previous Oscar winners and nominees to present the awards via a live stream, which was pre-recorded.

The Odysseys 2016: Extra Categories

If you’re a part of our amazing Film Twitter community, you will have seen that we announced the nominees for our annual film awards show – The Odysseys 2016 -yesterday. If you missed them, click here to check them out.

Now, those were the serious categories, but here are three more categories that are a little bit more “fun”, if you will. Returning from last year, is the “Guilty Pleasure Award”, which is basically for the films you maybe shouldn’t have enjoyed as much as you did. A new category for this year is the “Under The Radar Award”, for films which may have had a limited release and didn’t get the attention they deserve. And finally, the “Biggest Disappointment” is here to replace the “Worst Film” category.

These three categories will be open to a public vote, starting on the 1st January 2017 and closing on the 7th January 2017, so look out for the directions on how to vote tomorrow.
