Chris Miller And Phil Lord Step Down As ‘Han Solo’ Directors Mid-Production

News + Trailers

LucasFilm have released a statement overnight confirming that both Phil Lord and Christopher Miller have stepped down as directors on the second ‘Star Wars’ spin-off, the currently untitled ‘Han Solo’ film.

Official Statement:

“The untitled Han Solo film will move forward with a directorial change.

“Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are talented filmmakers who have assembled an incredible cast and crew, but it’s become clear that we had different creative visions on this film, and we’ve decided to part ways. A new director will be announced soon,” said Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm.

“Unfortunately, our vision and process weren’t aligned with our partners on this project. We normally aren’t fans of the phrase ‘creative differences’ but for once this cliché is true. We are really proud of the amazing and world-class work of our cast and crew,” stated Phil Lord and Christopher Miller.

The untitled Han Solo film remains scheduled for a May 2018 release.”

Fans on Twitter are already naming directors they’d love to take over the project, but who would be your choice?

Godzilla Sequel Begins Filming And New Plot Details Revealed

News + Trailers

Following the success of the 2014 reboot, filming is underway on the ‘Godzilla’ sequel, which is currently going by the name of ‘Godzilla: King of Monsters’.

The brand new synopsis released is as follows:

“The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah.  When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.”

It sounds like Godzilla is going to have a number of sparring partners in this film before he goes toe-to-toe with Kong in the upcoming film ‘Godzilla vs. Kong’.

Michael Dougherty (Krampus) is in the director’s chair for this monster outing, and Jordan Vogt-Roberts (Kong: Skull Island) and Gareth Edwards (Godzilla), celebrated the starting of filming by going for a little swim around Skull Island.

Starring in this film alongside the big man hilsef are Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things), Sally Hawkins (Godzilla), Kyle Chandler (Manchester by the Sea), and Ken Watanabe (Godzilla),

See How Winnie The Pooh Came To Be In The First Trailer For ‘Goodbye Christopher Robin’

News + Trailers

“‘Goodbye Christopher Robin’ gives a rare glimpse into the relationship between beloved children’s author A. A. Milne (Domhnall Gleeson) and his son Christopher Robin, whose toys inspired the magical world of Winnie the Pooh. Along with his mother Daphne (Margot Robbie), and his nanny Olive (Kelly Macdonald), Christopher Robin and his family are swept up in the international success of the books; the enchanting tales bringing hope and comfort to England after the First World War. But with the eyes of the world on Christopher Robin, what will the cost be to the family?”

I can’t imagine there’s anyone that doesn’t know who Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Piglet, and the rest of the gang are in this day and age. With numerous books, TV shows, films and even apps featuring Pooh and his friends, you’d have to have spent your life living under a rock to not know them.

Domhnall Gleeson portrays A. A. Milne, who was a writer and served in both World Wars. Milne mostly wrote plays and poems before the arrival of his son, Christopher Robin, but decided to write a children’s book based on the stuffed animals his son loved so much. The film looks set to show us where this inspiration came from, and the phenomenal reaction that followed the release of the first Winnie the Pooh book, and how that affected the Milne family.

With both Gleeson and Margot side by side, I’m anticipating a fantastic and touching take on this origin story.

‘Goodbye Christopher Robin’ releases in UK cinemas 29th September.

‘Loving Vincent’ Secures UK Release Thanks To Altitude Film Entertainment

News + Trailers

4 years
125 artists
65,000 oil paintings

In November last year, a teaser trailer hit the web for the worlds first fully-painted feature film, ‘Loving Vincent’. The film depicts “the life and controversial death of Vincent van Gogh told by his paintings and by the characters that inhabit them. The intrigue unfolds through interviews with the characters closest to Vincent and through dramatic reconstructions of the events leading up to his death.”

The film was first shot as a live action film and then 125 talented artists proceeded to hand paint every single frame that was filmed, which came to a grand total of 65,000 oil paintings. Artists from across the globe came together to work on this film, which has taken 4 years to complete.

The cast for the film includes Chris O’Dowd (‘IT Crowd’, ‘Bridesmaids’), Aidan Turner (‘Poldark’, ‘The Hobbit’),  Helen McCrory (‘Penny Dreadful, Skyfall’), Eleanor Tomlinson (‘Poldark, Jack the Giant Slayer’), and Robert Gulaczyk as Van Gogh. The majority of the cast star as the subjects of many of Van Gogh’s most famous pieces of work, and the Variety describe the film as a “suicide mystery” film in which a young man conducts fictional interviews with these characters to try and discover why Van Gogh took his own life.

More information about Van Gogh, the film, paintings, and the work that went to putting this all together can be found on – which I highly recommend having a browse around!

So far there’s no information on which cinemas will be screening this film, but we do know it will be coming to those lucky cinemas in October!

Ellen Page And Diego Luna Star In Flatliners Remake – First Trailer And Poster Have Arrived!

News + Trailers

“Five medical students, hoping to gain insight into the mystery of what lies beyond the confines of life, embark on a daring and dangerous experiment. By stopping their hearts for short periods of time, each triggers a near-death experience. As the investigation becomes more and more perilous, they are forced to confront the sins of their pasts, as well as contend with the paranormal consequences of trespassing to the other side.”

Now I’m going to hold my hands up right away and admit I haven’t seen the original 1990 ‘Flatliners’, which starred Kiefer Sutherland, Kevin Bacon, Julia Roberts and William Baldwin, so I watched this trailer without being able to compare against it. Having confessed on Twitter to this, the numerous replies I had telling me to watch it has swayed me to give it a shot.

The trailer gives us a good idea of who we’ll be spending most of our time with in the film, and towards the end of the trailer we get a real feel for what kind of tone to expect for the film as the repercussions of the gangs experiments start to to come to light.

This remake sports a strong cast, featuring the likes of Ellen Page, Diego Luna, Kiersey Clemons, Nina Dobrev, James Norton, and Kiefer Sutherland is even listed to make an appearance!

‘Flatliners’ hits UK cinemas 29th September!

Welcome to Wakanda – The First Teaser Trailer For Black Panther Has Arrived!

News + Trailers

Since his introduction in ‘Captain America: Civil War’, fans of the MCU have been on tenterhooks waiting for a glimpse of T’Challa’s solo film. Then yesterday, out of the blue, the first poster hit the web along with an announcement that a teaser trailer would follow a few hours later.

Whilst the poster received it’s fair share of criticism over on Twitter, the teaser trailer seems to have received an overall positive reception. And rightly so..

Joining Chadwick Boseman in Wakanda are Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, Winston Duke, and Sterling K. Brown. Ryan Coogler (Creed, Fruitvale Station) is in the director’s chair, which I couldn’t be more excited about!

Andy Serkis is reprising his role as Ulysses Klaw, who we met in ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ when he sold vibranium to Ultron, who then proceeded to slice off his arm in a fit of rage. Martin Freeman also returns as CIA Operative, Everett Ross, who had a run in with the Avengers and Black Panther during ‘Civil War’ when the CIA captured Bucky Barnes.

This first teaser does a superb job of being a tease of what to expect from this film and I can’t wait to see more!

“Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther” follows T’Challa who, after the death of his father, the King of Wakanda, returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation to succeed to the throne and take his rightful place as king.

“But when a powerful old enemy reappears, T’Challa’s mettle as king—and Black Panther—is tested when he is drawn into a formidable conflict that puts the fate of Wakanda and the entire world at risk. Faced with treachery and danger, the young king must rally his allies and release the full power of Black Panther to defeat his foes and secure the safety of his people and their way of life.”

‘Black Panther’ is currently scheduled to hit UK cinemas on 16th February 2018

Tom Cruise Takes To The Sky As Barry Seal in ‘American Made’

News + Trailers

Tom Cruise takes to the sky once again, but this time he’s portraying Barry Seal in the true story of how a pilot was recruited by the CIA and found himself smuggling for Pablo Escobar.

In classic Cruise fashion, the trailer promises some impressive stunts and practical effects, alongside an absolute bonkers story that I am very intrigued to learn about.

“In Universal Pictures’ ‘American Made’, Tom Cruise reunites with his ‘Edge of Tomorrow’ director, Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity, Mr. and Mrs. Smith), in this international escapade based on the outrageous (and real) exploits of a hustler and pilot unexpectedly recruited by the CIA to run one of the biggest covert operations in U.S. history.

Based on a true story, ‘American Made’ co-stars Domhnall Gleeson, Sarah Wright, E. Roger Mitchell, Jesse Plemons, Lola Kirke, Alejandro Edda, Benito Martinez, Caleb Landry Jones and Jayma Mays.”

‘American Made’ flies into UK cinemas 17th August

Take Your Stinking Paws Off Woody Harrelson You Damn Dirty Ape.

News + Trailers

I long for a world (Planet of the Apes movie) where homo-sapiens and our primate friends live harmoniously together; alas my dream is quashed as Matt Reeves (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and Cloverfield) will soon present ‘War for the Planet of the Apes’

The film speaks for itself, although a little awkwardly titled; humans and apes wage war against one another which will surely define the destinies for both species. Following a heavy defeat, Caesar struggles with his darker instincts and seeks retribution over mankind. With a great cast boasting Woody Harrelson and Andy Serkis, coupled with Matt Reeves and Die Hard 4.0 writer Mark Bomback adapting Pierre Boulle’s original writing, ‘War for Planet of the Apes’ certainly aims to pack cinema houses.

All good things must come to an end.

With a unique sense and ability to captivate audiences, Andy Serkis has become Hollywood’s go-to-guy for motion capture movies. Fans have followed the development of Serkis’ Caesar from Rise, Dawn and now War for the Planet of the Apes; it’s devastating to think that the third in the trilogy is tipped to be Caesar’s final.

‘War for Planet of the Apes’ is released in the UK on 12th July 2017. I’ll be re-familiarising myself with the previous two movies in the meantime.

The First Trailer For Stephen Chbosky’s ‘Wonder’ Has Arrived!

News + Trailers

“Based on the New York Times bestseller, ‘Wonder’ tells the inspiring and heartwarming story of August Pullman. Born with facial differences that, up until now, have prevented him from going to a mainstream school, Auggie becomes the most unlikely of heroes when he enters the local fifth grade. As his family, his new classmates, and the larger community all struggle to find their compassion and acceptance, Auggie’s extraordinary journey will unite them all and prove you can’t blend in when you were born to stand out.”

Owen Wilson, Julia Roberts, and Jacob Tremblay star in that adaptation of RJ Palacio best-selling novel, ‘Wonder’. Tremblay, who is quickly earning quite a name for himself following his performance in ‘Room’ and his upcoming part in Shane Black’s ‘Predator, is unrecognisable in his role as August Pullman, a young boy with “facial differences” and has never attended a public school before now. It’s good to see Owen Wilson tackling another serious role, and with Julia Roberts at his side I’m sure the pair will be fantastic in this film.

Stephen Chbosky (The Perks of Being a Wallflower) is directing the adapted screenplay, which was written by Jack Thorn and Steve Conrad.

‘Wonder’ opens in UK cinemas 8th December

New ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ Trailer Shows Off Spidey’s Suit

News + Trailers

Two brand new ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ trailers hit the web this morning, with the international trailer offering a better look at Michael Keaton’s Vulture, and the domestic showing off Spidey’s new suit, courtesy of Tony Stark.

After the last trailer left some fans feeling it had showed a little too much of the film, it’s likely some may avoid these final trailers and wait until the films release on July 5th.

We also have two brand new posters! You can find HQ versions of them both over on our Twitter – @JumpCut_Tweets
