Eggsy Is Suited And Booted In The First Teaser Trailer For Kingsman: The Golden Circle

News + Trailers

After a ‘blink-and-you’ll-miss-it’ teaser was released last week by Taron Egerton over on Twitter, Kingsman fans have been waiting for the trailer for the highly anticipated sequel to Matthew Vaughn’s brilliant and hilarious ‘Kingsman: The Secret Service’, which was released in 2014.

Then yesterday another teaser hit the web, this time it was to announce the trailer! (Yes, an announcement trailer for a trailer) We got a quick look at Eggsy (Taron Egerton), Agent Tequila (Channing Tatum), and Ginger (Halle Berry), and a shot of what looks like Kingsman HQ being blown to smithereens!

The trailer debuted on the Conan show overnight and now it’s here!

The trailer doesn’t show much that we didn’t already know from the synopsis. Kingsman HQ is destroyed and Eggsy meets the US equivalent of the Kingsman, named the Statesman. It looks like thinks don’t get off to a good start as Agent Tequila wrangles with Eggsy and Merlin. We also get our first look at Harry, who we thought had died in the first ‘Kingsman’, but now he’s donning an eye patch and looks ready to kick some more ass. This sequel looks like it’s taken everyone thing I loved about the first one and dialled it all the way up to 100! I’m excited to see how Vaughn has tried to top himself with this one.

“When their headquarters are destroyed and the world is held hostage, their journey leads them to the discovery of an allied spy organization in the US called Statesman, dating back to the day they were both founded. In a new adventure that tests their agents’ strength and wits to the limit, these two elite secret organizations band together to defeat a ruthless common enemy, in order to save the world, something that’s becoming a bit of a habit for Eggsy…”

The World Is Yours – Scarface Re-Imagining Set For 2018

News + Trailers, Uncategorized

As we all grow increasingly weary of tiresome reboot announcements from the motion-picture industry, you would be forgiven for thinking that Hollywood is scratching its noggin thinking ‘what next?’. It has been no secret that a ‘Scarface’ re-imagining has been in Universal’s crosshairs for some time. With an August 2018 release date, critics await news of concrete developments before they poise their pens for a slating. Brian De Palma’s 1983 ‘Scarface’ is a remake of the 1932 original produced by Howard Hughes. De Palma’s Scarface tells the story of a violently determined Cuban immigrant who climbs the criminal underworld to run a drug cartel in Miami.

‘You know what capitalism is? Getting fucked!’

Scarface may be Hollywood’s first most politically relevant reboot since Trump’s inauguration. Diego Luna (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) is tipped to star in the remake, the infamous anti-protagonist being a Mexican immigrant and not Cuban; a pertinent detail amendment that seems to resonate with Trump’s America. The second detail being that the 2018 Scarface will be set in Los Angeles as opposed to Miami.

When discussing films of the 80’s it’s hard to overlook Al Pacino’s Tony Montana wearing his iconic pinstripe, heavily dusted in Yayo, and wielding a high-powered assault rifle. So a third remake is quite an ambitious leap. However unlike many other remakes in recent years, at first glance Scarface appears to be in a good set of hands. Boardwalk Empire and Sopranos writer Terence Winter has been reportedly casting a watchful eye over a preliminary script, followed by Ethan and Joel Coen (Bridge of Spies and No Country for Old Men) who take on screenplay responsibilities.

No new project is without its hitch nevertheless. Antoine Fuqua was initially in talks to sit in the director’s chair however has had to quit due to commitments with ‘The Equaliser’ sequel,  starring Denzel Washington. A director is therefore yet to be announced, although according to Variety, Universal have been meeting directors and are keen to start production.

Watch this space.

‘Scarface’ is currently slated for release on 10th August 2018

Captain Marvel To Begin Filming February 2018

News + Trailers

It was announced earlier this week that Marvel Studios had secured directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck to helm the Captain Marvel film, which will star Brie Larson as Carol Danvers. This was met with mixed response from film fans but in their announcement, Marvel said they chose the co-directing pair the job because of their “diverse body of work and ability and focus on character” which is exactly what Captain Marvel fans are looking for for her first solo outing on the big screen!

Now Kevin Feige has revealed during an interview with Collider that, “assuming everything stays on schedule”, ‘Captain Marvel’ will begin filming in February 2018, which is around the same time ‘Black Panther’ is releasing in cinemas. Feige has also confirmed during the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ press junkets that ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ and the as-yet-untitled ‘Avengers 4’ will now film back-to-back, rather than simultaneously as was originally planned.

Hopefully the slate stays on schedule, despite some huge projects coming from the studio over the next couple of years. We can expect more casting announcements, plot details and such, much closer to the start of production. All we know so far is Fleck and Boden are directing and Larson is starring as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel, that ought to tide us over and keep hopes high until more information is released!

Guardians Of The Galaxy’s Awesome Mix Vol. 2 Track List Revealed

News + Trailers

Whilst there’s no actual spoilers in this piece, Chris Pratt did tweet earlier this month advising that he encourages people to watch ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2’ before listening to the ‘Awesome Mix Vol. 2’, so if you wish to not know what’s made it onto the mixtape close this article right now!

The mixtape features the likes of Fleetwood Mac, George Harrision, Sweet, Cheap Trick and.. David Hasselhoff!? That’s right, The Hoff will be lending his singing voice to a song that was co-written by James Gunn himself and is said to be a ‘comedic original’ scored by Tyler Bates.

After the greatness that was ‘Awesome Mix Vol. 1’, I thought Gunn would have a hard job topping it – but it looks like he may have actually pulled it off. I’m excited to hear the music (listed below) in the film.

  1. Mr. Blue Sky – Electric Light Orchestra
  2. Fox on the Run – Sweet
  3. Lake Shore Drive – Aliotta Haynes Jeremiah
  4. The Chain – Fleetwood Mac
  5. Bring it On Home to Me – Sam Cooke
  6. Southern Nights – Glen Campbell
  7. My Sweet Lord – George Harrison
  8. Brandy You’re a Fine Girl – Looking Glass
  9. Come a Little Bit Closer – Jay and the Americans
  10. Wham Bang Shang-A-Lang – Silver
  11. Surrender – Cheap Trick
  12. Father and Son – Yusuf / Cat Stevens
  13. Flashlight – Parliament
  14. Guardians Inferno – The Sneepers featuring David Hasselhoff

I’ve no doubt that someone has kindly put together this mixtape on Spotify or YouTube already for us to enjoy!

Grab Your Lightsabers! The First Trailer for Stars Wars: The Last Jedi Has Landed!

News + Trailers

The trailer for the 8th episode of the ‘Star Wars’ saga was shown during the ‘The Last Jedi’ panel at Star Wars Celebration Orlando. It’s fair to say that this was the main event that many Star Wars fans were waiting for this week, and now it’s finally here!

Rian Johnson enthusiasm really shined during ‘The Last Jedi’ panel this afternoon, so much so that he showed the trailer twice to the audience because he wanted to watch it with them again. He has so much love for the films and the franchise as a whole that I have 100% faith he will deliver a film that Star Wars fans will love.

From the trailer it looks like we can expect a much darker film, compared to ‘The Force Awakens’. From some of the casts comments over the period of the ‘Star Wars Celebration’ this week, this also leads me to believe the characters are going to face a lot of personal challenges, as well as facing the threat of the First Order, who Rian Johnson says “aren’t  just sitting on their hands” following the destruction of the Starkiller base.

Like most fans, I’ve had the trailer on repeat since it’s arrival and each shot is stunning and full of mystery. We can see Rey training and Luke watching over her, a brief but amazingly awesome shot of Kylo Ren wielding his lightsaber, Finn looks as though he’s still recovering in some sort of pod, Captain Phasma leading her troops, and the demise of Luke’s Jedi Academy.

December cannot come quick enough!

JumpCut Writer’s Reactions:

Rhys (@RuhBuhJuh): This trailer has me more hyped right now than after I watched the Force Awakens trailer. Incredible time to be a Star Wars fan!

Chris (@GelNerd): Light. Darkness. A balance. The Last Jedi has ruined me and I literally can’t comprehend what I’m seeing or what it means.

Noah (@movieswhynotm8): The word orgasmic comes to mind.

Fiona (@FionaUnderhill)I’m SO excited about seeing Rey, Finn, Poe and Kylo-Ren again.

and I’ll finish this piece with Sarah’s reaction, which I think we can all relate to right now…

‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ comes to a cinema not so far, far away December 15th 2017

Put On Your Seat Belts Before Watching The First Trailer For The Hitman’s Bodyguard

News + Trailers

“The world’s top protection agent (Ryan Reynolds) is called upon to guard the life of his mortal enemy, one of the world’s most notorious hitmen (Samuel L. Jackson). The relentless bodyguard and manipulative assassin have been on the opposite end of the bullet for years and are thrown together for a wildly outrageous 24 hours. During their raucous and hilarious adventure from England to the Hague, they encounter high-speed car chases, outlandish boat escapades and a merciless Eastern European dictator (Gary Oldman) who is out for blood. Salma Hayek joins the mayhem as Jackson’s equally notorious wife.”

As first impressions go, this trailer may be one of my favourites this year so far. Putting Samuel L. Jackson and Ryan Reynolds together in a film is a stroke of genius and the pair seemingly play these characters to their strengths. Jackson angrily yelling “motherfucker” every chance he can, and Reynolds playing the sarcastic asshole just trying to do the right thing.  It may be characteristics we’ve seen them both portray in many films before, but putting them both together in one film looks like a recipe for utter hilarity.

Joining Reynolds and Jackson are Gary Oldman, who is playing an “Eastern European dictator who is out for blood” and Salma Hayek, who will be Jackson’s wife who is apparently as “equally notorious” as her husband. This all sounds like a side splittingly funny film and I’m very excited to see Oldman’s villain, who I’m expecting to be very outlandish and funny if the protagonists are anything to go by.

‘The Hitman’s Bodyguard’ is hitting UK cinemas 18th August 2017

Jude Law Cast As Young Albus Dumbledore In Fantastic Beast Sequel

News + Trailers

It was only a matter of time before we expected to hear who’d bagged the role, but today it has been announced that Jude Law has officially been cast in the role of young Albus Dumbledore in the sequel to ‘Fantastic Beasts’.

Dumbledore was mentioned a few times during the first ‘Fantastic Beasts’, mainly in the context of his relationship with the film’s protagonist, Newt Scamander, but many fans had hoped the sequels will explore Dumbledore’s epic duel with former friend turned dark wizard, Gellert Grindelwald, whose true identity was revealed in the first film. Dumbledore, who at this point in his life is a Transfiguration professor at Hogwarts, argued against Newt’s expulsion from Hogwarts and we will hopefully get to see the two interact and see their relationship explored.

David Yates will be returning to direct the sequel, due to hit cinemas in November 2018. Yates has saidJude Law is a phenomenally talented actor whose work I have long admired, and I’m looking forward to finally having the opportunity to work with him” and continued to say “I know he will brilliantly capture all the unexpected facets of Albus Dumbledore as J.K. Rowling reveals this very different time in his life.

J.K Rowling has previously confirmed there are 5 films for the franchise planned.

Are you excited to see Law make his debut in the wizarding world as young Dumbledore?
