“Chronicling the adventures of an eccentric, resilient and tight-knit family, ‘The Glass Castle’ is a remarkable story of unconditional love. Oscar® winner Brie Larson brings Jeannette Walls’s best-selling memoir to life as a young woman who, influenced by the joyfully wild nature of her deeply dysfunctional father, found the fiery determination to carve out a successful life on her own terms.”
Brie Larson looks like she’s about to nail yet another role as Jeannette Walls, as she becomes the highlight of this first trailer. On top of that, she’s acting alongside Woody Harrelson and Naomi Watts. A winning cast in my opinion. From the trailer and synopsis, we can piece together that this father/daughter relationship between Rex and Jeannette becomes evermore strained as Jeannette gets older, leading her to feel nothing but resentment for him as she becomes a successful young woman.
Numerous comments under the trailer hold really high praise for the memoir on which this is based, which was written by Jeanette Walls. So much so in fact, I think I might have to find myself a copy and have a read before the film’s release.
So far there is no UK date known for ‘The Glass Castle’, but it is scheduled to release August 11th in the USA.
