The Young Critic AKA Brandon, is another account we just stumbled across on Twitter. It’s very easy to gain a respect and build a friendship with someone when you notice that their opinions are similar to your own. 19 year old Brandon, from Northern Louisiana, is an avid film fan who we are always keen to support and encourage in any way possible. We even created his new logo for him!
What do you do?
I began this website not very long ago, in December of 2014, purely for fun. I will admit, I never imagined it would come to much – originally, I wasn’t even going to write reviews! The original plan was for me to simply talk about movies and maybe get a little following and just have some fun. Fast forward to right now, and my Twitter page sits at over 600 followers and I’ve now posted over 1,000 tweets. I never expected it to go this far, but you know what? I could not be happier or grateful that it did.
Why do you do it?
My passion for movies started at a very young age. I really do find an escape in movies. I have always loved them for many reasons, like for the stories they tell, the performances you see, and the feeling you get when you leave the theatre. Movies have just always been a part of my life. Most people where I’m from couldn’t care less about movies, and they always say I’m “too obsessed” and that I like to watch the same movies too many times, but to that I say that watching a movie again is no different to listening to a song again. I believe film is eternal and I aim to continue seeing these amazing stories and visions come to life.
How do you view your relationship with JumpCut UK?
I have met some amazing people who have the same passion for film as I do, not least JumpCut UK. I believe that interaction is essential in general life anyway, so why not interact through movies? I love the interaction you get on Twitter, and JumpCut UK are one of the main accounts I communicate with on a regular basis. I am very excited to be working with JumpCut UK and we have had a very successful partnership so far, so I see nothing but great and bright things to come from the future of this partnership.
